The microbiome test: your “fingerprint” to truly take care of your health

Do you often feel bloated, tired, with aches that won't go away, even though all your tests are “within the normal range”?

    It may show up as:

    • recurrent headaches
    • back or joint pain
    • widespread pain
    • thyroid disorders
    • difficulty losing weight or keeping it stable
    • irritable bowel
    • unrefreshing sleep
    quote

Where is all this really coming from?

The hidden role of the gut

In recent years one key point has become clear: many answers lie in an organ that is often underestimated but central to our overall health: the gut.

    Microbioma

Inside the gut lives a real “invisible city” made up of trillions of bacteria, fungi, protozoa and viruses, together with metabolites, vitamins, hormones and many other substances that regulate the balance of our body: this is the gut microbiome.

The balance of this community affects:

    • digestion and abdominal bloating
    • the immune system (and therefore inflammatory and autoimmune processes as well, such as some thyroid conditions)
    • the way we handle sugars and fats (weight, blood sugar, cholesterol)
    • the nervous system and pain (chronic musculoskeletal pain, headache, pelvic pain, widespread pain)
    • energy, mood and sleep quality
    • mental health and some aspects of behavior

When this balance is disrupted (dysbiosis), the gut can become a silent source of inflammation that, over time, helps maintain or worsen symptoms such as chronic pain, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, irritability, as well as overt intestinal disorders.

What is the microbiome test and what is it for?

The microbiome test is a simple, non-invasive examination that, using a stool sample collected at home, analyses the composition and function of your gut microbiota. In practice it allows us to:

    • understand how your gut is doing from a microbiological point of view
    • see whether there are imbalances (dysbiosis, excess or deficiency of specific bacteria or fungi, such as Candida)
    • assess whether your microbiota tends to produce more protective or more pro-inflammatory substances

And to identify possible links between your gut profile and symptoms such as:

    • chronic pain (muscular, joint, widespread)
    • thyroid disorders (especially with an autoimmune component)
    • irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, irregular bowel habits
    • chronic intestinal diseases (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis)
    • autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases
    • fertility issues
    • unexplained weight changes
    • persistent fatigue, “brain fog”, mood changes
    quote

The test adds an important piece to the puzzle: it shows us what is really happening in your “second brain”, the gut.

From here it becomes possible to build a personalized nutritional and support plan, designed to:

    • reduce underlying inflammation
    • protect and regenerate the intestinal barrier
    • feed and support the “friendly” bacteria
    • support, in an integrated way, the work on pain, metabolism, hormones, thyroid function and overall wellbeing
    • bring about a real improvement in your health over time

How the test works, step by step

    • 1. Book your microbiome test
You can contact me directly or get in touch with the practice reception to book the test.
    • 2. At-home sampling kit
You collect your kit and fill in the activation form. Inside you will find clear instructions on how to collect a small stool sample in a simple and hygienic way. Sampling is non-invasive and you can do it comfortably at home.
    • 3. Collection and laboratory analysis
The sample is collected directly from your home, or you can drop it off at the post office that is most convenient for you. It will reach the specialist laboratory, where it will be analysed using metagenomic sequencing technology to assess the composition of the microbiome in detail.
    • 4. Delivery and explanation of the report
When the result is ready, you will be contacted to schedule an appointment. During the visit I will explain, in simple terms, what has emerged, which aspects are in balance and which need more attention, and how we will use this information to build your personalized nutritional plan.
    • 5. Follow-up and, if needed, repetition of the test
It is not mandatory to repeat the test, but in some cases it can be helpful to do it again after at least 4 months to see how the microbiome has responded to treatment, diet and lifestyle changes.

Listening to your gut to improve your quality of life

The microbiota is not just a simple “detail” of the gut: it is a true ally, involved in regulating energy, mood, immunity and metabolism. Taking care of it means investing in your health, now and in the future. If you feel that “something doesn't add up” between how you feel and what shows up in routine tests, the microbiome test can be a useful tool to finally gain clarity and start a path of awareness and prevention that is truly tailored to you.
