How I became passionate about acupuncture lifting
During my trip to China, in Nanjing, for the International Master in Clinical Acupuncture, I had the privilege of meeting Prof. Wang Ning Sheng, a third-generation acupuncturist and "ambassador" of acupuncture worldwide.
I still remember his kindness when, in one of Nanjing's most prestigious hospitals, he showed me for the first time how the ultra-thin needles applied to the face do not serve to "stretch" the skin, but to stimulate from within natural processes of health and rejuvenation.
The revolutionary concept: not to erase, but to enhance
This technique is not a "mechanical" lift aiming to stretch or modify facial features, but a reinforcement of the beauty that already exists.
Like kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold: it doesn't hide the cracks but illuminates them, enhancing and making them unique.
Regenerative acupuncture works from within, improving overall health so the face can "bloom" again, as the Huang Di Nei Jing (2nd century BC) teaches: "The face reflects the state of the internal organs".
How acupuncture lifting works
- Microstimulation and collagen - ultra-thin needles are inserted into wrinkles and expression lines, creating a slight controlled micro-stress. This stimulation triggers new collagen and elastic fibers that fill small skin depressions. Often, natural substances based on hyaluronic acid, snail slime and essential oils are applied during the session to enhance the rejuvenating effect.
- Muscle tone and structure - by acting on the origin and insertion points of facial muscles, regenerative acupuncture helps harmonize and tone facial musculature. The result is a more compact, lifted and radiant face.
- Local circulation - the insertion of needles improves blood and lymph microcirculation. More flow means less swelling, a healthier complexion and more oxygenated skin: the perfect base for a radiant look.
- Enhanced absorption - the temporary micro-channels created by the needles increase the penetration of serums and creams used during the session and daily routine, allowing the active ingredients to more easily reach the deeper layers of the dermis.
Benefits for body and mind
- Hormonal balance - acupuncture influences the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary axis, improving the cycle, fertility and hormonal profile in menopause and post-menopause.
- Efficient metabolism - it stimulates digestion and intestinal and liver functions, favoring better weight management.
- Stress reduction - it increases the production of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin, lowers cortisol and tension, giving a sense of well-being that reflects on face and body.
- Renewed self-esteem - feeling good about yourself boosts confidence and quality of life.
In practice: what to expect
- Initial evaluation - General visit to assess health, any conditions and ongoing therapies, defining a unique and personalized path.
- Duration - Each session lasts about 60 minutes. A cycle of 6–8 sessions is recommended, weekly at first then every two weeks or monthly. Needles are applied to body and face for a global treatment.
- Sensations - Slight pinching or tingling at insertion, followed by a feeling of warmth and deep relaxation. A small bruise may appear and disappear within 2–3 days.
- Results - They start to become noticeable after 2–3 sessions, with progressive improvements in tone, elasticity and radiance; results keep consolidating over the next 6–8 weeks.
- Contraindications - Uncontrolled coagulopathies, active skin infections, advanced pregnancy and uncontrolled diabetes.
Why choose acupuncture over other techniques
Regenerative acupuncture stands out from other techniques (botox, fillers, or surgery) because it does not simply “freeze” or “fill in” the signs of aging temporarily, but acts directly on tissue health, stimulating the natural production of collagen, improving microcirculation, and toning facial muscles.
This approach produces longer-lasting effects – which can persist for months or years – because it relies on your body’s ability to regenerate, a predisposition that comes from your genetics.
At the same time, the results are enhanced or diminished by your daily habits: a nutrient-rich diet, quality sleep, hydration, and regular physical activity support new collagen and keep radiance alive, while smoking, stress, and an unbalanced diet accelerate its natural deterioration.
Beauty born from inner health
As Prof. Wang taught me, there is no real lifting without a healthy ground: first overall health, then the face shines. It is an integrated, human and scientific approach that highlights every wrinkle and expression line, turning them into points of light.
Regenerative acupuncture lifting is not a cosmetic treatment, but a path of health, beauty and well-being handed down for millennia and today enriched by natural techniques and substances, working in synergy with your uniqueness to make your face shine, inside and out.
