Practical in-person course for healthcare professionals.

Praticamente Medicina Cinese

From theory to clinical practice: a concrete method for integrating Chinese Medicine into your work with patients.

  • In person in Ragusa
  • Maximum 5 participants
  • Real patients · 2 sessions
  • Starts 14 November 2026
  • 2 weekends · 4 days

The course is delivered in Italian.

What you will take away

A practical clinical method for moving from theory to the patient.

Inspired by the logic of the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination), the course uses structured cases to train you to gather relevant information, connect it and turn it into a process of assessment and treatment.

A framework you can bring into your clinical practice from the very next day.

  • Clinical sessions with real patients

Two in-person sessions to work directly with patients, ask questions, and practise guided clinical reasoning on each case: learn how to structure the first visit, what to reassess at follow-up visits, and how to adapt treatment over time.

  • Dedicated materials

To revisit and explore in more depth the topics covered during the course.

  • Certificate of attendance

Issued at the end of the course.

  • Trained professionals

With their specific authorisation, participants may be included in the list of professionals trained by Dr Floriana La Marca.

Listen, observe, connect, formulate, explore further

  1. Listen

Start from the patient's story and understand which questions can help clarify the picture.

  2. Observe

Recognise relevant signs and information without treating them as isolated elements.

  3. Connect

Bring together what emerges according to the principles of Chinese Medicine and build a coherent understanding of the case.

  4. Formulate

Arrive at a first reasoned direction for the work.

  5. Explore further

Understand what to study or verify after the appointment in order to prepare the next steps with greater awareness.

A course to do, not just listen to

Entirely in person, with a maximum of 5 participants and 2 sessions dedicated to observing patients and clinical reasoning through cases. A small group in which to discuss the work and receive direct guidance during practical activities.

You will also work individually and in small groups to put your reasoning to the test.

Who the course is for

Healthcare professionals who want to make their clinical reasoning in Chinese Medicine more practical.

The course is reserved for healthcare professionals.

You do not need to have completed a previous formal course in Chinese Medicine; a basic theoretical knowledge is recommended. The first day includes a brief review of the main reference points before moving on to case-based work.

Why Praticamente Medicina Cinese was created

Studying Chinese Medicine does not automatically mean knowing how to use it when faced with a real case.

The challenge is understanding what to observe, which information matters and how to connect it in order to reach a useful assessment.

Praticamente Medicina Cinese was created to train precisely this transition: not to accumulate more knowledge, but to learn how to use it in clinical reasoning.

About me

I am Floriana La Marca, a physician and acupuncturist.

I have also pursued advanced studies in Chinese Medicine and acupuncture in China and Taiwan.

In 2022, I established and managed a clinic dedicated to acupuncture for non-malignant pain at the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Careggi in Florence, and gained experience in its Integrated Medicine Unit.

I also teach and provide professional training at Italian acupuncture schools.

Praticamente Medicina Cinese also grew out of these experiences: making the transition from study to clinical application more concrete.

Programme

Four course days to progressively train your clinical reasoning: listening, observing, connecting, formulating and exploring further.

First weekend

Day 1

Foundations and patient assessment

We will begin with a brief review of the main reference points of Chinese Medicine — meridians and points, the Eight Principles, observation, tongue and pulse — to refresh the foundations needed for the work that follows.

We will focus especially on how to use these elements together: what to observe, which information to gather and how to connect it into a coherent picture.

Day 2

From diagnosis to practice

We will start from clinical cases to reason through what we observe, the questions to ask and how the information gathered can guide the case.

We will then move to a session with patients dedicated to observation and guided clinical reasoning: you will work individually or in small groups to analyse the cases, connecting what emerges with a first reasoned approach.

Second weekend

Day 3

Complementary techniques

We will explore some of the main complementary techniques — including moxibustion, cupping, Gua Sha and acupressure — considering when they may make sense within the patient's overall picture.

We will work with indications, contraindications, demonstrations and exercises.

Day 4

From the first encounter to the next steps

We will consolidate the method through new clinical cases and a second session with patients, dedicated to observation and guided clinical reasoning.

We will work through the complete process: what to observe and ask, how to connect the information and arrive at a first reasoned approach to the case; then what to explore after the encounter in order to plan the next steps with a clear rationale.
